The past two years of total Democratic leadership in our government have been unprecedented in terms of the amount of control they have asserted. We that control, the government has had to make decisions on behalf of the taxpayer. These decisions have eliminated the choice taxpayers have had in certain affairs.For example, should we have continued to invest billions in Fannie and Freddie only for the money to be used to close an equity gap?
Whether we like it or not, the government made that decision for us.
What makes overlooking these decisions more difficult is if they are embedded in 2,000 pages of legalese and covering several different topics.
Therefore, we need a new amendment to the Constitution that keeps bills on one subject. No health care in a transportation bill, no education in a defense budget, no more off-topic garbage. This would not end earmarks, but if a Congressman wants to build a "bridge to no where," we know exactly where that mess will be proposed.
